Carroll De Nooy, 68

Carroll De Nooy, 68, of Sioux Center, died Friday, July 31, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at United Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. A prayer service took place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Memorials may be directed to Sioux Center Christian School.

Carroll was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Oskaloosa, to Andrew and LaVerda (Van Wyk) De Nooy.

Carroll graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School with the Class of 1970. He enjoyed track and field, especially sprinting.

After graduating high school, Carroll put up grain bins and served in the Iowa National Guard Reserve for six years before he began to farm with his father.

July 2, 1982, Carroll and Deb were united in marriage in Rock Valley. Carroll and Deb were blessed with three children: Eric, Loren, and Rindy.

In 1987, Carroll and family moved to Sioux Center.

Carroll enjoyed spending time with his family, including playing games, bike rides, playing sports, walking trails, and being outdoors.

As a couple, Carroll and Deb enjoyed attending music concerts, taking trips together, and Saturday night pizza and movie dates. They also enjoyed just being together and working together on the farm.

He loved organic farming and raising cattle. The past two years, Carroll became passionate about sheep farming. He also liked a good book.

Carroll delighted to go into the house of the Lord to worship and to read God's Word. He was fond of visiting with older people when in the consistory.

Carroll is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deb; and his children, Loren (Tara) De Nooy of Sioux Center and Rindy (Doug) Veldhuisen of Emo, Ontario, Canada; his grandchildren: Savanna, Wade, Mia, and Brielle De Nooy, Lucas Veldhuisen, and baby Veldhuisen in September; his brothers and sisters: Dorothy (Stan) Hiemstra, Arvin (Brenda) De Nooy, Ron De Nooy, Bonnie De Nooy, and Carla (Les) Nieuwsma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Eric.
