Carolyn Hoffstetter, 75, of Searsboro, died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on Sun-day, July 18, 2021.

A private family burial will take place at Searsboro Cemetery. Memorials in Carolyn’s name may be sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, IA 50112.

Carolyn was born Feb. 26, 1946, to Fred and Ruth (Criswell) Martin on the farm near Deep River. She attended Grinnell schools. James and Carolyn were lifelong friends, growing up together, and they married Aug. 20, 1965.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, and aunt. Carolyn was the glue of the family and never said no to anyone. She did everything you could ever ask for. You never went away hungry from her house, and pancakes were always offered. She was a great baker and cook. Carolyn could also be a jokester, especially to her grandchildren. She spent her days raising their children and helping with the grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy; she loved them dearly. Carolyn will truly be missed.

Those who will always remember Carolyn are her husband, James of Searsboro; her mother, Ruth Martin of Grinnell; her children, David (Teri) Hoffstetter of Grinnell, Chris Hoffstetter of Searsboro, Jill (Rodney) Baker of Searsboro, and Jennifer (Randy Large) Thompson of Lynnville; her grandchildren, Mick Hoffstetter, Tanner Hoffstetter, Quentin (Brittany Evans) Thompson, Ashton (Teejay Brackin) Thompson, and Trent Large. Carolyn will also be remembered by her siblings, Linda (Roger) Loftin of Malcom, Annie (Mike) Campbell and Mark Martin, all of Grinnell; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred; and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Burns Logan.
