Bob Antle, 45

Robert “Bob” Wesley Antle, 45, of Newton died  Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at  Newton Church of The Way. Memorials to the Newton FFA Chapter or Jasper County Pheasants Forever may be left at the funeral home.

Bob, the son of Weston and Barb (Dearinger) Antle, was born  Feb. 24, 1973, in Grinnell. He grew up by Killduff and was a member of the 1991 graduating class of Lynnville-Sully High School. Mar. 5, 1994, even after requesting some unusual musical selections for their wedding, Bob was united in marriage with Amy J. Ergenbright in Newton. The next 24 years would include three beautiful children: Shane, Dusti, and Jarrett along with many laughs, lots of great stories and adventures, and time with family and friends. Bob was a hard worker and loved putting on his boots every morning to go work on the farm. He was proud to pass that dedication and love on to his children. He also enjoyed hunting and going to the races. Bob had a personality all his own, to know him was to love him even though you knew you were in for some kind of teasing or a dose of his orneriness. He had the rare ability to make each person he encountered feel like you were the closest of friends. Bob’s favorite place was the shop, which he enjoyed both working and playing at. If the shop walls could talk, there would be many great stories to be shared, more than likely over an ice-cold beer. Those left to continue those stories and memories are his wife, Amy Antle of Newton; children, Shane (Ashley) Jansen, Dusti Antle, and Jarrett Antle, all of Newton; mother, Barb Antle of Altoona; sister, Carrie Antle (John Stilley) of West Des Moines; aunts, Barb (Darrel) Jansen of Sully and Judy Dearinger of Newton; mother-in-law, Mary Janet Ergenbright of Newton; sisters-in-law, Janet (Randy) Clausen, Lori (Brant) Gilmore, and Mindy (Curt) Roorda; brother-in-law, Ed (Colette) Ergenbright; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, Wes Antle in 2016; and his father-in-law, Archie Ergenbright in 2017.
