Betty Jean Earnhart, 65

Betty J. Earnhart, 65, of Grinnell and formerly of Searsboro, died Jan. 25, 2018, at her home.

A Celebration of Life service is pending.

Betty was born June 3, 1952, in Grinnell, the daughter of Maynard and Shirley Mendenhall Sears. She was raised in Searsboro and was a 1970 graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School.

June 5, 1971, she was united in marriage with Dale Norman Earnhart at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. The couple lived in Searsboro for a few years prior to moving to Grinnell in 1973. They returned to Searsboro in 1982.

For many years, Betty was employed as a waitress at several restaurants in the Grinnell area, including the Longhorn, Tiger's Den, and Skel-Diner. She was also employed at P.J.'s Deli in Newton and was a house cleaner for several years.

Betty enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all their activities. Her hobbies included quilting and crocheting. She loved the outdoors, camping and fishing, and riding horses. She absolutely loved "flutterbly's!"

Betty is survived by her three children, Cammie (Jeff) Milner of Grinnell, Tonja (Chris) Nichols of Montrose, and Shane (Sammi) Earnhart of Grinnell; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dale, in 2009.
