Betty Ann Dop, 65, of Newton, died Wednesday, Nov, 6, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of New-ton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service and again after the service with a lunch at the funeral home. Memorials to Suncrest Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
Betty, the daughter of Wilson and Genevieve (Van Genderen) Dop, was born Oct. 21, 1959, in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated as valedictorian of the Newton High School Class of 1978. Betty then moved to Des Moines and received her RN and BSN from Methodist Hospital. She worked at Methodist for a short time before moving to Omaha to work at St. Joseph Hospital and pursue her masters in nursing degree. Growing up, she was a member of Community Reformed Church in Newton and loved cats.
Betty is survived by her brothers Rodger (Lisa) Dop and Douglas (Ruth Ann) Dop; and her brother-in-law Dan Shea.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Donna Shea.
