Barbara Snodgrass, 59, of Sully passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Pella Regional Health Center. Her memorial service was at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Sully Community Church. Memorials may be given to Sully Fire Department.
Barbara Elaine Snodgrass was born Aug. 7, 1958. Barbara spent most of her childhood in Newton and was a 1976 graduate of Grinnell High School. She went on to attend Missouri Methodist School of Nursing. Most of her life, she worked as a nurse in St. Joseph, MO, California, and Kansas City. Barbara married Dennis Snodgrass in 1998, and they made their home in Sully. Her biggest interest was her grandkids, with other interests of watching the Kansas City Chiefs, attending music concerts, and going to casinos. Barbara was always caring for others and always thought of others first. She was also a volunteer firefighter in Sully. Barbara was at times ornery and had an adventurous spirit but was limited by her health.
Those left to cherish her memory are: Her husband, Dennis Snodgrass of Sully; her children and families: Bart and Sarah German of Kansas City, MO, Marcus and Roslyn; Jamie and Shannon Snodgrass of Wellman, and Justice Snodgrass; Krista and Allan Boehmer of Ankeny, Kassaundra Gray, Ashton Boell, Axel Boehmer, and Aven Boehmer; Adam Snodgrass of Olathe, KS; Elizabeth Snodgrass of Atlanta, GA; father, Dean and Helen Lanser of Newton; mother-in-law, Doris Snodgrass of Sully; biological father John Peak, brother John Jr., and sister Brenda; siblings: Jeff and Becki Lanser of Cary, NC, Kimberly and Brian Hood of Des Moines, Debra and Mark Moioffer of Balsam Lake, WI; in-laws Patty and Mark McCormick of Delray Beach, FL, Jim and Sandy Snodgrass of Kellogg, Steve and Christine Snodgrass of Tucson, AZ, Donnie and Debbie Snodgrass of Delray Beach, FL, Kathy and Dennis Moes of Dandridge, TN, and Barbara and Michael Mitchell of Ankeny.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Riley, and her father-in-law, Donovan Snodgrass.
