Barb Antle, 74

Barbara “Barb” Mae (Dearinger) Antle, 74, of Newton, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials in Barb’s name (checks made payable to Carrie Gilbert) may be left at the funeral home.

Barb, the daughter of Martin and Lois (Laffoon) Dearinger, was born Mar. 22, 1948, in Newton. She grew up in the Galesburg and Killduff areas. Barb was united in marriage with Weston “Wes” Antle and they were blessed with two children: Robert and Carrie. They made their home in rural Killduff and later in Newton. Barb did in-home housekeeping for many years and later worked in housekeeping at Grinnell Regional Medical Center and Skiff Medical Center. After she retired, Barb moved to Altoona. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Barb enjoyed birdwatching, crocheting, watching HGTV, and collecting baskets, snowmen, and crosses. Barb loved spending time with her family and enjoyed many craft shows with her daughter Carrie.

Barb is survived by her daughter Carrie (Todd) Gilbert of Newton; her daughter-in-law Amy Antle of Newton; her grandchildren Shane Jansen, Dusti Antle, Jarrett Antle, Taylor Alter, and Chelsea Alter; her great-grandson Eli Stoner and one more great-grandchild on the way; and her sister-in-law Judy Dearinger of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Bob Antle in 2018; and brother Harry Dearinger.
