Avis Van Wyhe, 84

Avis Van Wyhe, 84, died Sept. 21, 2019. Memorial service was Wednes-day, Sept. 25, at Tracy Christian Reformed Church. Memorials have been designated for With Love Toy Ministry of Pella and Hospice of Pella.

Avis Leora Van Wyhe was born Oct. 12, 1934, to George and Pauline (Miller) Vander Schel, in Mitchellville.

Avis attended school in Sully and was a 1953 graduate of Sully High School. June 5, 1953, Avis married her blind date, Jacob Van Wyhe. For the first five weeks of their married life, Jake and Avis lived in California where he was stationed with the military. They were blessed with four children: Arnold Lee, Richard Allen, Leora Sue, and Harlan Gene. They lived near Killduff and Sully before purchasing and moving to a home in Pella. Avis worked at the Coffee Cup Café in Sully and in Pella. She worked at Central College and the Overall Factory. Later, a move to Tracy gave them the opportunity to retire and spend time with their hobbies.

Avis was preceded in death by her husband Jacob, her parents, and her son Arnold Van Wyhe.

Her family members include: The late Arnold and Sue Van Wyhe, Aaron and Arenda Van Wyhe, Kylee, Kody, Karson, and Karter, Tonya and Dan Schutte, Hailey, and Wyatt, Tanya and Tom Demro, Cooper and Camden, T.J. Schutte; Rick (Cathy) Van Wyhe, Steph Haines, and Carson Haines; Leora (Rick) Bandstra, Monica and Todd Zylstra, Derek and Haley Jansen, Oliver, and Miles, Lindsey Jansen; Harlan (Ronda) Van Wyhe, Tara and Jordan Vos, Jonah, Audrey, Reuben, Elise, and Simon, Victoria and Joel Lewicki, Benjamin, Violet, Silas, and Penelope, Auburn and Colin Van Kooten, Blaine, and Beau, Brandon and Lindsay Allen and Claire Rose, Kayla Hipsher, and Bailey Hipsher,  She is also survived by her brother Glen (Betty) Vander Schel of Tracy.
