Arthur Van Ryswyk, 83

Arthur D. Van Ryswyk, 83, of Prairie City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Park Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial will take place at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 2-8 p.m. at the church. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the First Reformed Church or the Gideons. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Arie and Irene (Vande Lune) Van Ryswyk, Art was born Nov. 19, 1934, in rural Prairie City. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1953. He made his confession of faith at Prairie City Christian Reformed Church. On July 3, 1956, he was united in marriage to Betty Arlene Van Norden. Art worked in the accounting department at Monfort in Des Moines for many years. Art was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a successful businessman; and a faithful member of First Reformed Church in Prairie City.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 62 years, Betty; two daughters, Debbie (Morris) Jansen and Terri (Meredith) Van Zee; five grandchildren, Chris (Sara) Jansen, Nicole Jansen, Melinda (Mark) Porter, Josiah (Brittany) Jansen, and Tim Jansen; seven great- grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Kalley, Kaden, Kale, Carson, Elyse, and Claire. Also surviving are his in-laws, Grace Van Ryswyk, Charles Logsdon, Wanda Van Heukelom, and Tunie and Kathy Van Norden; along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Art in death were his parents; his siblings, Aliqie in infancy, Don Van Ryswyk and his wife Doris, Robert Van Ryswyk, Doris Logsdon, and Alice Samson and her husband Robert.
