Arnold Van Wyhe, 60

Arnold Van Wyhe, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in Pella.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sue, Aaron, or Tonya.

Arnold Lee Van Wyhe was born on Oct. 3, 1955, to Jacob and Avis (Vander Schel) Van Wyhe in rural Mahaska County. Arnie grew up in the Lynnville–Sully area and was a graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School.

He married Karla Pol in 1974, and they had two children, Aaron and Tonya. They raised their family in Searsboro and were members of the Sully First Reformed Church.

In 2002, Arnie and Sue Williamson joined together and resided in Pella. Arnie faithfully attended the Tracy Reformed Church.

Arnie loved all things country: Music, hauling cattle, bull-riding, and antique tractors. Throughout his career, he drove semi, worked at Vermeer Manufacturing, and was a self-employed cattle hauler.

After many years in the field, Arnie recently retired from Herboldt Farms due to health concerns.

He was a kind man who talked to anyone and everyone and loved to help out family and friends.

Arnie cherished his children; he was best friends with his son, and his daughter was his “baby girl.” Arnie was extremely proud to be known as “Grandpa Ornery.”

Those left to cherish his memory are his companion Sue Williamson of Pella; his children, Aaron (Arenda) Van Wyhe of Harvey and Tonya (Dan) Schutte of Monroe; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his mother Avis Van Wyhe of Knoxville; his siblings: Rick (Cathy) Van Wyhe, Leora (Rick) Bandstra, and Harlan Van Wyhe; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Jacob.

Arnie will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
