Arlene R. Craver, 95, of Newton died Thursday, Mar. 19, 2020, at Accura Healthcare of New-ton. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arlene, the daughter of Arlie and Amy (McDowell) Binegar, was born June 14, 1924, in Grinnell. She grew up in Searsboro and graduated from Searsboro High School. She then graduated from cosmetology school. Arlene was united in marriage with Paul Craver on Apr. 22, 1944, in Newton. They made their home in Newton where Arlene owned her own beauty salon and later she and Paul owned Hobby House. Arlene also enjoyed cooking at the Moose Lodge.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Charlene R. Gibson of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Paul Gibson of Nevada, Stacy (Julie) Gibson of Omaha, and Melissa Gibson of Hamburg; her great-grandchildren, Christopher (Shelby) Gibson, Zach (Charon) Gibson, Miranda Gibson, Jared Gibson, Katelyn Gibson, and Jacob Tristan; great-great-grandchildren, Vincent, Avery, and Odin; her sister, Lucille Van Dyke of Grinnell; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul.
