Arlene Brand, 86

Reva “Arlene” Brand was born Oct. 10, 1933, to Gerrit and Gertie (Slycord) Beyer, in her parents’ home in Taintor. She passed away at Park Centre in Newton on Sept. 3, 2020, at the age of 86. Following visitation, a private family service was held Saturday afternoon, Sept. 5, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Memorials have been designated for Wesley Life Hospice and Lisa Jansen Memorial Scholarship.

Arlene attended school in Sully and was a 1951 graduate of Sully High School. Jan. 1, 1952, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Brand in The Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Gale, Dale, and Lisa.

Arlene and Lloyd were always together! She was a homemaker and helped him on the farm. Her family meant the world to her. She was a loving, selfless, humble woman who was always joyful. She lived to serve and care for others, and she especially loved little children. Arlene also loved to tease and joke, and she was a competitive card player. She collected antiques, and deer and dog dishes. She enjoyed attending country music concerts at Lake Rathbun and on Branson vacations. She and Lloyd started attending church at the Sully Meeting Room and then joined the First Baptist Church in Pella.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Lloyd, and their family: Gale (Brent) Larsen of Grinnell; Dale (Tana) Brand of Sully, Eric (Faye) Brand, Carter, and Abigail, and Cory (Heidi) Brand, Braxton, Breckyn, Brooks, and Briar; the late Lisa (Ron) Jansen of Pella, Garret Jansen and fiancée Hannah Stewart, Elisabeth Jansen, and Joseph Jansen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Lisa Jansen, and her sisters: Dorothy (Andrew) Van Zee and Mary (Bill) Stewart; and her brothers: Charlie (Elotia) Beyer and Carrol (Mary Lou) Beyer.
