Alberta Davis, 97

Alberta Davis, 97, of rural Searsboro, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 5, 2021, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at a later date. A private burial will be held at the Stewart Cemetery near Taintor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Searsboro Community Church or Lynnville Historical Society.

Alberta Ione Davis, the daughter of Lewis Chester and Emma Mae (Myers) Arthur, was born Aug. 24, 1923, near Searsboro. She graduated from Searsboro High School. Apr. 18, 1944, Alberta was united in marriage to Richard Davis. To this union two sons were born, Thomas and Donald. Together, Richard and Alberta farmed in the Searsboro area. Alberta was a hard worker and enjoyed helping out on the farm. She was the Postmaster at the Searsboro Post Office for several years. Alberta enjoyed mowing her yard, and she always had a big garden and flower bed. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake and was best known for her pies, especially her sour crème and raisin pie. She was an active member of Searsboro Community Church.

Her legacy will be remembered by her children, Thomas (Barbara) Davis of Georgetown, TX, and Donald (Carol) Davis of Clive; her three grandchildren, Scott (Kindra) Davis, Sara (Rich) Moran, and Andrew Davis; her six great-grandchildren Mia, Julia, Grace, Declan, Mabley, and Beney; and many other relatives and friends.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard Davis; her brother William Arthur; and two sisters Lois Fudge and Elizabeth Runner.
