Sully Mayor Brent Vander Molen was successful in his unopposed bid for re-election to his second term, according to uncertified election tallies released Tuesday night by the Jasper County Auditor's Office. The only incumbent on the ballot, Jeff Brummel was elected. Current council member Brad Rozendaal was elected by write-in. To fill an unexpired two-year term, current councilmember Chad Fikse was elected by write-in.
Roy James was elected Lynnville Mayor by write-in. If he accepts, his current council position will probably be filled by appointment or could be filled by a special election. Elected as council members were incumbent Roger Beason and newcomer Mark Newberg.
The official canvass of the election will be by the Jasper County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Those elected by write-in have 10 days after the canvass to resign the position elected to in writing, which will be 5 p.m. on Nov. 20.
