SHARE food order deadline February 9

The Sully SHARE Iowa food co-op is more than just a place to purchase food. It is about volunteering within our communities. Since Sully became a site for SHARE Iowa, at least 75 people have ordered at least once since the site began last June. Many are monthly repeat customers and the site has at least 20 people per month order.

Paying it forward by volunteering in the community is how Sully SHARE Iowa runs, and they brought in a total of 131 volunteer hours for this past month. The volunteers did the following: Visited shut-ins, delivered prepared dinners to elderly, worked at the Mercy House and PCCI in Newton and at Sully Christian School, the Sully Lions Club organization, and church clean-up, as well as putting in hours with help organizing and the distribution of SHARE food on one Saturday a month at Sully First Reformed Church. Without volunteers, the Sully SHARE Iowa food co-op when not be able to run.

For the month of February, copies of menus can be found at Sully First Reformed Church, Sully Post Office, or First State Bank in Sully.

The February Best Value Package at $25 (save up to 50 percent on your groceries) includes: 12 ounces Cook’s ham medallions, one pound chicken breast fillets, 12 ounce Tyson fully-cooked steak strips, 17.5 ounce Trader Joe’s mini-chicken tacos, 9.6 ounce Tyson Day Start breakfast sausage links, 16 ounce California blend frozen vegetables, and fresh seasonal produce assortment.
