Randy Taylor, Citizen of the Year

The man who is often behind the camera lens at any Lynnville-Sully athletic or academic event received a well-deserved honor during Lynnville-Sully’s graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 21. Randy Taylor of Reasnor was awarded the 2016 Lynnville-Sully Citizen of the Year award.

Since 1986, the L-S School Board of Education has recognized the Citizen of the Year as someone who has made a significant contribution to the school and its students. Randy, who retired from Maytag, has spent the last several years extending his passion for photography to the L-S community. Taylor and his wife Pat have three daughters – Missi, Aimee, and Sam – all Lynnville-Sully graduates. Taylor was a mainstay at any L-S event during their tenure as Hawk students and athletes, rarely missing an event. Even after his own daughters graduated, Taylor remained on the sidelines, snapping pictures and capturing pivotal moments as L-S students and athletes shined. Now with grandchildren attending L-S, Taylor is still behind the camera lens, capturing special memories for L-S students, athletes, and their families to cherish forever.

L-S School Board President Tim Dunsbergen presented the award to Taylor on Saturday night. Part of his speech read, “Through my own high school days back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, I can remember Randy chasing many of the extra-curricular activities around, snapping photos and trying to capture the ‘best’ photo opportunity possible. Randy, thank you for your service to the Lynnville-Sully community.”
