One dies, two hospitalized in Truck Wash incident

Three employees of the Sully Truck Wash, located at 10683 Hwy. Due to the suspected hazardous materials incident, several other agencies responded including Sully, Lynnville, Kellogg, and Monroe Fire Departments, Newton Fire and Haz Mat, and LifeFlight and Mercy helicopters. All three employees were removed from the tank by first responders and given medical aid. Four inmates from the minimum-security Newton Correctional Release Center were working at the business at the time, and one inmate died and one was taken to a medical facility along with Brent Vander Molen, manager of the business. The other two inmates were not injured. Complete details were not available at press time, and the Sully Fire Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
