Heart of Worship retreat draws biggest crowd yet

In this hectic world, it’s no secret women often bear the burden of a lot of stress. They wear many hats as working wives, mothers, and grandmothers. That’s why the Women’s Spring Retreat at Lynnville Heart of Worship this past Saturday was designed to encourage women in all stages of life. The event was a joyful commotion of laughter and friendship as 60 ladies came together from all over the area to feel the love of God and His encouragement.

Ruthie Oberg, from Council Bluffs, shared a powerful message called “Finding Your True Voice” on forgiveness and God’s love. Oberg has recently resigned her position as senior pastor at First Assembly of God in Council Bluffs after 15 years of service to prepare for a missions appointment to Africa.

In addition to Oberg’s talk, other events planned for the 4.5-hour event were interactive games, prizes, and a luncheon. A special treat of the day was the women were served lunch by the men from the church congregation. The ladies also enjoyed a time of music and song with the church’s own worship team.

Rhonda Pool, this year’s coordinator, shared the Women’s Spring Retreat was started by Cindy Norman before Rhonda and her husband, Tom, moved to Lynnville more than three and half years ago to pastor the church. The event has been a hit among area women with last weekend drawing in the biggest crowd yet and everyone leaving refreshed and encouraged.

“It was such a blessing to see all these various ladies from other church denominations coming together in a spirit of unity,” Rhonda said. “We as a church wanted to keep this tradition going as an outreach from this little church with a big heart!”
