After months of fundraising, the Lynnville Fire Department has met its financial goal to purchase a newer pumper truck. Back in October, the volunteer fire department set a fundraising goal of $60,000 to replace their oldest pumper and update radios. Several anonymous donors came forward with matching funds amounting to $29,500. Through a letter campaign, soup supper, pancake breakfast, and a bracelet fundraiser by Atlas St. John of Pella (granddaughter of Mark and Melissa Doll of Lynnville), the Lynnville Fire Department was able to raise $31,649.39 in donations. Between the donations and the pledges of matching funds, the fundraising total was met, and a newer pumper truck was purchased by the department in February.
“Thank you to the community for your support and this is a great addition to our line of equipment to better serve the community,” said Mark Van Wyk, Lynnville Fire Department Fire Chief.
