The Pork in the Pantry Program was rolled out statewide earlier this year, and it assists local food pantries through the County Pork Producer organizations. Iowa Pork Producers provides funding to county organizations, so they may donate pork to local food pantries. The Iowa Pork Producers will reimburse participating counties up to $1,000 for pork products being donated to local food pantries. Over 570 pounds of ground pork from Sully Locker – a $2,000 value – will be divided between Jasper County food pantries in Kellogg and Monroe, and a Poweshiek County food pantry in Montezuma.
