Sully Christian School offers transitional kindergarten (TK) for the parents of children who have already been through preschool but are not yet ready because of age and skill level to enter kindergarten in the fall. TK offers children the opportunity to be in an educational setting where they can maintain and grow their skills. The days for the program are Tuesdays and Thursdays during the normal school hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The skills focused on are in reading, math, and language, along with strengthening small motor movement, improving writing skills, discovery in science, learning more about God’s love in Bible stories, developing stronger social interaction, and generally maturing in all areas.
The first semester TK children are joined by other children whose parents chose to enroll their child in the kindergarten enrichment program. This option is for parents of kindergarten children who want their child in a school setting all week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they practice lessons and skills already presented and no new learning takes place.
At the beginning of the third quarter, TK students are joined with kindergarten students on Tuesdays and at the beginning of the fourth quarter on Thursdays. They continue to work on material at their level and join together in subjects where everyone is still learning. As you know, being with others who challenge you helps to develop your desire to perform well. The TK program may be what your child needs to spur them on in growth to their full God-given potential.
If you are interested in learning more or have any questions about the program, there will be an informational meeting at Sully Christian School on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. For questions or more information, contact the school at 641-594-4180 or the secretary at [email protected].
