Organizers of the sesquicentennial anniversary held a fundraiser chili cook-off and raffle at the Searsboro Fire Station on Saturday, Mar. 21. Tried-and-true recipes were put to the test for the chili cook-off that drew nine competitors to the event along with hungry community members ready for an evening of fun and flavor.

The fundraiser also featured a raffle of three grand prizes donated by Brownells – a Nightforce N8 Scope valued at $2,050 was won by Josh DeWitt, and two Big Springs annual memberships valued at $450 each were won by Andy Schuster and Tyler Henderson. Local businesses, including Amy’s Jewelry, Frontier Cafe, Grin City Bakery, HyVee, La Rose Marie Bakery and Boutique, Loralei’s, and ZIP IN, generously donated gift cards to be part of the silent auction along with a variety of gift baskets and so much more.
