Mercy Mobile Wash is a power and soft washing business that’s been serving the area since last fall. Owned by Tyler German, the new business takes its cleaning abilities on the road to give things and places a fresh, clean look – be it a house, business, driveway, or hog barn.
Tyler, a New Sharon native who now lives outside of Lynnville, said the idea to form Mercy Mobile Wash came in 2023.
“I had a vision to fulfill a local need for a mobile washing service with a focus on washing heavy equipment,” he said.
That dream started to become a reality in the spring of 2024, when he and his wife, Jill, purchased a truck and went to work acquiring the necessary equipment to put the truck into action. They built the truck with the ability to transport more than enough water to soft wash an average-size home and run two wands off the pump.
Once the truck was ready late last fall, Mercy Mobile Wash was birthed – and has already expanded in its offerings.
“We were ready to wash and focus on building our customer base,” Tyler said. “The idea of washing heavy equipment quickly morphed into washing homes, building exteriors, sidewalks, driveways, and vinyl/wood fence.”
“Obviously, washing outside in our part of the country is a seasonal venture,” he added. “So, in an effort to keep the truck busy in the cold months, we decided to diversify and provide support to our local hog farmers by offering hog barn washing, of which there is large local demand for.”
Currently, Mercy Mobile Wash offers hog barn washing and residential and commercial exterior washing, which includes but is not limited to siding, sidewalks, driveways, decks, vinyl and wood fencing, and windows, with plans to expand and offer heavy equipment washing.
Depending on the surface being cleaned, Tyler can use either power washing or soft washing. Power washing uses high-pressure water, while soft washing uses low-pressure water with cleaning solutions, making it gentler and better suited for delicate surfaces. No matter the job, power and soft washing can result in quite the transformation.
“Simply by washing away the dirt, dust, mildew, and mold with the right equipment and detergents, you can significantly enhance the curb appeal of a home,” Tyler said. “We've found that our customers are surprised by and appreciate the difference a clean exterior can make.”
Mostly, Tyler does the washing for Mercy Mobile Wash. But occasionally, a couple of guys join the crew to help expedite bigger jobs. They give the same attention to detail as Tyler does – and it’s a high level of attention because, as Tyler put it, “We tackle every job as if we were washing our own property.”
Looking ahead, the Germans intend to scale their business to the point of needing a full-time employee and another mobile wash rig.
When asked where the business name came from, Tyler said, “What is the first thing that comes to mind when people hear the word ‘mercy?’ For me, I think of the Lord's great mercy. I wanted a name that expressed something I’m grateful for, and that is God’s mercy. We are all undeserving of His generous mercy and blessings He gives us daily.”
Among the blessings Tyler and Jill have experienced are their four children – one who graduated in 2023 and their younger three who attend North Mahaska Schools. Tyler and Jill are actively involved with their church at Lynnville Heart of Worship, where Jill works part-time as the treasurer.
The Germans have taken a leap of faith in starting their own business and are excited to serve the local communities. Mercy Mobile Wash currently services Jasper, Poweshiek, Mahaska, Marion, and the surrounding counties.
