The $2.2 million bridge replacement project that kicked off in April on Hwy. F62 just east of Lynnville is making progress. To date, most of the old bridge has been removed and the new east pier and east abutment are complete. Jasper County Engineer Michael Frietsch anticipates demolition of the old bridge structure to be completely done once the west abutment and west pier are complete, which he believes will be in early July.
Final grading work and stone placement will come after all abutments and piers are placed, followed by delivery and setting of the beams. Once the beams are set, focus will turn to the deck pour, then approach paving. Frietsch stresses the work is highly dependent on the weather but remains positive the bridge will be complete and F62 open back up at the end of November, at the earliest.
