Kevin and Julie DeZwarte of Kellogg are the parents of a son, Alton Brooks, born Nov. 13, 2015, weighing 2 pounds 4 ounces. Alton was born at 26 weeks gestation following Julie's month-long inpatient stay at Mercy. Alton will be at Mercy NICU in Des Moines until the standard NICU estimate for preemies to go home on their original due date, which for Alton was Feb. 14, 2016. His big sisters are Miriam Rose (3 years) and Hannah Joy (16 months). Grandparents are Glen and Carol DeZwarte of Newton and Arvan and Betty Van Zee of Pella. Great-grandmother is Kathleen Fopma of Pella.
