Dale Ritter, 61, of Newton died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 9, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be designated to Newton Foursquare Church or Jasper County Animal Rescue League and may be left at the funeral home.
Dale Francis Ritter, son of Howard Delmar and Maurine Joyce (Otten) Ritter, was born Sept. 17, 1954, in Grinnell. Dale graduated from the Monroe Senior High School with the Class of 1972. Apr. 5, 1974, Dale was united in marriage with Ellen Irene McKinney in Newton.
Dale loved to farm and continued until his health would not allow him to continue. Dale was a member of the Newton Foursquare Church. He enjoyed archery and attending and participating in Renaissance Fairs.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, David.
Those left to honor Dale’s memory include his wife, Ellen Ritter of Newton; his sons, Lee (Karen) Ritter of Grinnell, and Roy (Jennifer) Ritter of Newton; his daughter, Amy (Curt) Jones of Baxter; his eight grandchildren, Crystal, Dylan, Jordan, Amelia, Elizabeth, Curtis, Hannah, and Logan; his mother, Joyce Ritter of Pella; his brothers, Dean Ritter of Minneapolis, MN, and Wayne (Nora) Ritter of Sully; and his sister, Helen (Tim) O’Connor of Woodstock, IL.
