Nancy Lucille Swank was born July 31, 1941, to Barney and Carrie (Vos) Memmelaar in Oskaloosa. Nancy grew up in Leighton and lived in the Peoria and Sully area. She was a graduate of Pella Christian High School where she played basketball.

Feb. 13, 1960, she was united in marriage to Ronald Swank in her parents’ home in Leighton. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Sally, Kandy, and Robbie. In addition to being a homemaker, Nancy coached powder puff softball for her daughters and was a bus driver for Sully Christian School for 34 years. She enjoyed sitting in her “bird room” but her happy place was beside Ron in the car on drives. Nancy was a member of Sully Christian Reformed Church where she was in the Ruth Circle and a Calvinettes leader. Nancy was also a waitress at SOS and Coffee Cup Café for many years along with a beloved housecleaner for many in the area.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Ron and their family: Sally (Ron) Van Der Kamp of West Des Moines, Kandy (Robert) DeRooi of Oskaloosa, and Robbie (Teri) Swank of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Bernice (Willard) Bronger of Wheaton, IL, JoAnn Blom of Pella, and John Memmelaar of Des Moines.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Leona (Gary) VandeVoort, Marvin Blom, and Nancy Memmelaar.
