Serenity Haven has recruited a team of volunteers ready to make the 2026 Taco Tuesday fundraising campaign a record-breaking success. Last year, Serenity Haven sold 1,600 tacos thanks to great community support and their team, shown above, who helped churn out the delicious jumbo fried tacos. This October, they hope to sell over 2,000 tacos.
Serenity Haven’s famous jumbo fried tacos are back on the menu on Tuesday nights in October, and the mission behind the Taco Tuesday fundraiser is one both your tastebuds and wallets will approve.
Last year’s Taco Tuesday fundraising efforts were such a hit that Serenity Haven founders Jamie and Robin Hackert are bringing it back. Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 6, Serenity Haven will take call-in orders for the delicious tacos from 5-8 p.m. At just $8 per taco, locals will want to let Serenity Haven do the cooking on Tuesdays in October and support a good cause while taking a break from the kitchen. Orders may be called in to 641-657-7872 and picked up at “Grandma Dee’s” located at 707 3rd Street in Sully. See the ad on page 11 in this issue for more details.
The Hackerts hope to surpass last year’s grand taco tally of 1,600 sold and sell over 2,000 jumbo fried shells stuffed with deliciousness in 2026. Robin reports they have already stocked their freezers with 280 pounds of quality beef purchased from Fareway on a great sale and have teamed up with La Rose Marie Bakery to order perishables on a weekly basis, which will help cut down the Sam’s Club grocery runs.
“October 6, 13, 20, and 27 are set and with the help of our amazing volunteers, we hope to pump out record numbers of tacos each week,” said Robin.
Taco Tuesday is just one of Serenity Haven’s fundraising endeavors as part of the organization’s mission to build a modern and fully handicap-accessible home for up to four individuals with special needs in Sully. The Hackerts also organize Race for Ace, a trail walk/run each spring and will hold a first-of-its-kind pickleball tournament on Saturday, Jan. 16, inside the Lynnville-Sully gyms. “Gyms are rented and breakfast burritos, walking tacos, and concessions will be available as well. Mark your calendars to get a team together and have some pickleball fun for a great cause!” said Robin.
Earlier this fall, Serenity Haven received a big boost in their fundraising efforts thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Vermeer Charitable Foundation. The Hackerts are actively seeking out additional grants that will help them reach their goal of raising 25% of the estimated $700,000-plus funds needed to build a handicap-accessible home complete with an elevator, track system for the residents, and a generator. To date, Serenity Haven has generated nearly $100,000 for the Sully home which is being designed and built by North Ridge Estates.
