Construction continues at Lynnville-Sully this summer

Construction projects at Lynnville-Sully School configured into the $4.5 million bond issue passed with a 80.53% approval rate in 2020 continue this summer, and crews remain busy working on the latest phase, the high school main entrance.

Work on the main entrance to the high school started June 1. While construction is underway, the main entrance will not be accessible to students, staff, or the general public. A temporary front entrance has been set up in room 205 of the high school, which serves as the high school’s resource room during the school year. Anyone needing access into the school during normal business hours is asked to use the temporary entrance located on the west side of the high school building. Student parking in the gravel lot on the east side of the building is still available, as well as general parking on the southwest corner of the high school parking lot. A small section of the driveway in front of the high school entrance is closed and will remain blocked off until the project is complete. Visitors to L-S are asked to use the far east entrance near the bus barn or far west entrance near Casey’s until further notice.

Once complete, the high school main entrance area will feature a new front office desk, ticket-taking area, waiting area, and principal’s office. New carpet will be laid throughout for a general office refresh. The renovated front entrance area will also include safe entry points, which means the locked office doors will be fitted with fob readers.

New desks, flooring, and lighting are part of the office renovations currently taking place at the school.

Finishing work on the multi-purpose gym is still underway. Superintendent Matt Dunsbergen reports the school is patiently waiting for a revised schedule from contractors regarding the work that needs completed before the multi-purpose gym can be used.

The elementary/middle school office renovations are also nearly complete.

Projects associated with the $4.5 million bond issue that have been completed include the new concession stand and restrooms near the football field and major upgrades to the school’s electrical panels and HVAC system.
