The culmination of a year’s worth of art – 13 years of creativity for the senior artists – was on display at Lynnville-Sully’s annual art show on Monday, Mar. 28. This year marked the 19th year Mrs. Tara Conover, Lynnville-Sully’s K-12 art teacher, has organized the art show. Over 1,500 pieces of artwork ranging from watercolors to pottery to mixed media were on display in the high school gym and art gallery.

For over three hours, hundreds of family, friends, and supporters of the L-S Art Program were invited to browse aisle upon aisle of artwork on display in the high school gym. The gym was transformed into a makeshift art gallery featuring the creativity and masterpieces of artists in kindergarten through eleventh grade. The art gallery featured the career artwork of the seven seniors in Mrs. Conover’s classes.

Freshman Jakeira Hay was awarded Best of Show Award for her acrylic painting, "Clouds."
New this year to the art show was the addition of the Lynnville-Sully Jazz Band. Led by band director Mr. Nathan Dickerson, the jazz band serenaded guests of the art show for a short time starting at 6 p.m. The background music was a great hit among those in attendance. Mrs. Conover and Mr. Dickerson look forward to making the jazz band performance a tradition at future art shows.
After admiring the work of hundreds of L-S artists and listening to the talented L-S musicians, guests had the opportunity to get a quick bite to eat in the middle school gym. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and the fixings, as well as a variety of desserts made by Mrs. Anna Arkema’s foods students, were available for purchase in the middle school gym. The new multi-purpose gym was also open to the public for a short time, giving many guests their first peek at the new addition that will provide space for PE classes, extra-curricular practices, and competitions.
“Thank you, Lynnville-Sully community, for another amazing show of support for our visual arts program,” said Mrs. Conover. “I have been blessed to teach in the very best community and have students who are willing to be pushed to a higher level each year.”
