David “Bern” Van Houwelingen was born on June 15, 1953, to Alvin and Beatrice Van Houwe-lingen in Pella and passed away on Feb. 11, 2016, at the age of 62 in Chowchilla, CA, where he resided for the last 30 years. David enjoyed his time as a farmer. He grew up south of Sully and was a Class of 1971 Lynnville-Sully High School graduate.
David was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Van Houwelingen.
David is survived by his wife, Linda J. Van Houwelingen; father, Alvin Van Houwelingen of Merced, CA; son, Aaron Kunno; daughter, Tracey R. Moore of Chowchilla, CA; sister, Cindy Boty; niece, Rachel Wurr; nephew, Brandon Lent; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held Thursday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, Merced, CA.
