Marjean Mae (Gosselink) Uitermarkt was born to Leonard J. and Mary Magdalene (Hiemstra) Gosselink on July 1, 1934, in Pella. She was a graduate of Pella Christian High School in 1952.

Marjean married Verlan Uitermarkt on Mar. 22, 1957, in the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. To this union, they had two daughters.

After high school, Marjean worked at Rolscreen and later worked for Ideal Manufacturing in Oskaloosa. She returned to Rolscreen prior to starting a family. After her children were raised, she worked in the admissions department at William Penn College in Oskaloosa for 15 years. Most of all, Marjean loved attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great- grandchildren’s activities. Marjean was a former board member of New Sharon Community Daycare. She was also involved in many church activities, including Vacation Bible School, Bible study, Sunday School teacher, and the director of children’s music.
