Funeral services for Caiden Knox, 13, of Pella were held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Third Reformed Church, Pella.
Caiden Christopher Knox was the second of three sons born to Shawn Ray and Michelle Lee (Jones) Knox. He was born at the Pella Regional Health Center Aug. 17, 2004.
Caiden attended Madison School, Jefferson School, and was currently in seventh grade at the Pella Middle School. He enjoyed the outdoors with his brothers and cousins: Exploring down by the river, fishing, archery target shooting, and swimming at the pool. Caiden possessed a budding artistic talent and began exploring music as he participated in orchestra and show choir. He had a big imagination, as most young boys do, enjoying conversations that kept a kind and happy perspective. He avoided scary stories, unusual shadows created by the dark, and things that could be used by his imagination to create fear. Caiden loved food, especially eating out at restaurants with his family and special grandma "Nee Nee" Kathy. He had an appreciation for cooking and was very inquisitive about learning to cook one day. He spent many hours in the kitchen with family and enjoyed that time. Caiden looked forward to taking trips with family and his "Nee Nee," traveling to many different states. He could be found most Friday nights at Pella High School football games cheering on the Dutch and investigating the social scene at the game. Caiden loved to play video games, especially the game Halo. He had an appreciation for classic rock and recently attended his first concert in person with his parents.
Caiden did have some health difficulties, specifically with asthma. Nov. 9, 2017, Caiden had a severe asthma attack and was taken to be with his God in Heaven at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 13 years. We trust that God is caring for Caiden, and He has a new angel to watch over his family and friends until that day we all meet again through our faith and love for our Savior Jesus Christ.
Caiden is survived by his loving family: His parents Shawn and Michelle Knox, his two brothers, Cameron Keith and Max Lee, all of Pella; his maternal grandmother, Kathy (Hamre) Jones of Pella; paternal grandfather, Kevin and Laurie Knox of Grinnell; paternal grandmother, Robin Miller of Newton; uncles and aunts, Keith and Gina Jones of Pella and their children Eden and Cael; Holly Mitchell of Lynnville and her children Alex and Veronica, Michelle Knox of Newton and her daughter Natalee; and paternal great-grandmothers, Eileen Miller of Lynnville and Mabel Knox of Newton.
Caiden was preceded in death by his grandfather, Max Jones; and great-grandparents, Earl Sr. and "Chi Chi" Hamre, Donald and Anita Jones, Kenneth Knox, and Merlin Miller.
Caiden was a fun-loving, kind boy and had a huge smile that would warm your heart.
