Grinnell Regional Medical Center has been committed to the public’s health and well-being as demonstrated with the opening of the Lynnville Medical Clinic 16 years ago on Nov. 1, 2000. It is a sad announcement that GRMC will close the Lynnville Medical Clinic until they can find a provider to staff the clinic.
For several years, GRMC has faced challenges to maintain a permanent provider at Lynnville Medical Clinic with a regular schedule. Without a healthcare provider, the difficult decision to close the clinic has been made; however, GRMC will continue to own the building and clinic, and The Diamond Trail Children’s Center will remain in the facility rent-free, as has been the case since it opened.
The last day of scheduled service at Lynnville Medical Clinic is Wednesday, Jan. 11. During January, the only patients who will be seen are acute care patients who do not require a follow-up (lab work, x-rays, prescription refills), as there will not be a provider available to complete follow-up requirements after Jan. 11.
“We truly value the years we have spent in the Lynnville community,” said Todd Linden, GRMC President and CEO. “We hope that we can return in the very near future. Healthcare is changing every year. Technologies are advancing every day. We will re-evaluate opening the clinic if we can recruit a provider and/or establish telemedicine technologies to provide primary care services.”
Though this primary care office is closing, GRMC remains committed to the health of the communities served, and offers alternatives: Grinnell Regional Family Care, Victor Health Center, and two mid-level providers at the Montezuma Medical Clinic are accepting new patients. Medical records from the Lynnville Medical Clinic can be made available to the providers at these clinics immediately. Brooklyn Medical Clinic is also accepting new patients. Please call the provider of your choice to establish care at that clinic.
