John L. Rupp, 90

John L. Rupp, 90, of Montezuma died Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in the Burn Treatment Center. Memorial services were held at 5 p.m. on July 12 at First Presbyterian Evangelical Church in Montezuma. A private burial was held in the Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church at 303 East Washington Street, Montezuma, IA 50171.

John Leonard Rupp, the son of John and Phoebe (Wilson) Rupp, was born June 23, 1929, in rural Iowa. He graduated from Searsboro High School.

Apr. 9, 1950, John was united in marriage to Leah Shadley. To this union three daughters were born, Mary, Jane, and Joan. John was a lifelong farmer in the Grinnell area. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading: Successful Farming, Ladies Home Journal, and the Des Moines Register Sunday edition from cover to cover. He loved watching golf but never played. He was a faithful member of the Montezuma First Presbyterian Evangelical Church.

His memory will be honored by his wife, Leah Mae Rupp of Montezuma; three daughters: Mary Sheldon, Jane Jimenez, and Joan Rupp; his grandchildren: Jennifer Morgan, Patrick Sheldon, Megan Hopkins, and Holly Spencer; his great-grandchildren: Logan Shel-don, Conner Sheldon, Braxton Sheldon, Emery Sheldon, and Isabella Morgan; his sister, Doris Van Gennep of Kellogg; and many other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Phoebe Rupp; a sister, Laketa Gauley; a son-in-law, Richard Jimenez; and a grandson, Brian Jimenez.
