Dr. Lillian Breckenridge, 76

Dr. Lillian (Vande Krol) Breckenridge, 76, of Tulsa, OK, passed from this life on Saturday, Mar. 24, 2018. She and her husband, James, were seminary professors with Oral Roberts University for 29 years. In addition to her teaching, Lillian had also been an assistant to the dean and was instrumental in creating several helpful programs.

Dr. Breckenridge has four earned degrees: BA., M.R.E., M.A.L.S., and Ph.D. Throughout her career, she received multiple honors, including ORU's overall Outstanding Faculty Member in 2011 and Outstanding Graduate School of Theology and Ministry Faculty Member in 2005 and 2011. But perhaps the words of one of her students, writing about his seminary experience, best sum up her legacy of passion and purpose: “I truly know the importance of being a Christian educator now ... with all the tools necessary to create and teach for the 21st century."

As a child, Lillian grew up in Lynnville, the second child and only daughter of Russell and Johanna (Meppelink) Vande Krol. Her siblings were Claren (deceased), Roland (deceased), Delwin of Sully, and Douglas of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by her husband James and her stepmother Margaret Vande Krol of Sully.

Burial and graveside services will be at the Sully Cemetery at a future date, with a reception meal at Sully First Reformed Church.
