Carrol Gene Beyer was born May 20, 1929, to Gerrit and Gertie (Slycord) Beyer, at their county-line home near Lynnville.

Carrol grew up in the Lynnville area and attended country school through eighth grade. He served our country in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Garrett on Oct. 14, 1954.  To this union, they were blessed with two children:  Candy and Barry.

Carrol farmed his entire life with his wife Mary Lou. He was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed making furniture and toys for his grandchildren. He loved going into Lynnville and playing cards every afternoon with his friends until his health prevented him from doing so.  He managed the Lynnville fast pitch softball team and was a member of the Lions Club. Family was very important to him, and his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He always made time for them and made them feel special.  He loved watching them play sports and never missed a game in which they played. He will be forever remembered for his great sense of humor, always having Tic Tacs in his pocket for his family and their friends, and his kind, caring heart.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou; his children: Candy (Merl) Van Zante of Reasnor and Barry (Linda) Beyer of Sully; his grandchildren:  Matthew and Alexis Van Zante, Landon and Jana Van Zante, Jordon Van Zante and Allie Reed, Nick Beyer, and Kelsey Beyer; and four great-grandchildren: Dawson and Braden Van Zante and Alexa and Noelle Van Zante; and his sister, Arlene (Lloyd) Brand of Pella.

Carrol was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; his siblings: Dorothy (Andrew) Van Zee, Mary (William) Stewart, Charly (Elotia) Beyer; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dorothy and Dale Hazelett, Arlene and William Salway, Bill and Miladean Garrett, Bob and Juanita Garrett, Bob Plate, Fred Jr. and Marge Black, Donald Garrett, and Keith Garrett.
