Marcia Landuyt, 78, of Grinnell, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Monday, July 7, at Smith Funeral Home with private family burial at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to the family.
Marcia was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Oskaloosa, to Lyal and Frances (Blagg) Wehrle. She was raised on her family’s farm in rural New Sharon and graduated from North Mahaska High School in 1965.
Marcia met the love of her life, Camiel Landuyt, on a blind date, and the two were married June 5, 1971, in Taintor. They made their home in Grinnell, later moving to an acreage southwest of town. Marcia lovingly devoted herself to raising their children and taking care of others throughout her life. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in all of life’s milestones.
Though small in stature, Marcia had a mighty heart. She cherished time with her family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter—often leading to her signature snort.
Marcia loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking, camping, playing cards and games, and going on fishing trips with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing rolle bolle, competing in various leagues and numerous tournaments with Camiel.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Camiel Landuyt; her sister, Marla Van Dee; her children, Douglas Landuyt, Russell (Amy) Landuyt, Kimberly (Chris) Kriegel, and Sandy Cordes; her grandchildren, Trevor, Dustin, Karissa (Josh), Kayla, Jolissa (Dakota), Lyla (Draven), Trase (Taylor), Levi (Kaelin), Garrett, Coby, and Ashlan; and her great-grandchildren, Edgar, Oakley, Ivy, Louyah, and Sasha.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bill Wehrle.
