Glenna Budding, 96, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Lynnville, passed away May 1, 2025. Funeral service was 10 a.m., Monday, May 5, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Pella, followed by interment in Sully Cemetery. Memorials have been designated for Sully Christian Reformed Church.
Glenna Joann (Van Engelenhoven) Budding was born Oct. 6, 1928, to John and Dora (Vande Voort) Van Engelenhoven in Oskaloosa. She attended Prine School through the eighth grade and later received her G.E.D. diploma from the Marshalltown Community College.
Apr. 14, 1951, Glenna was united in marriage to Joe A. Budding, Jr. To this union three children were born: Deborah Kay, Doris Joann, and David Joe. Following their marriage, they lived in the Lynnville-Sully area. Glenna worked for over 25 years at the Best Western Motel in Grinnell and enjoyed the many different people she met there. She enjoyed the state fair and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Lynnville-Sully Hawks. She enjoyed eating out with friends, playing cards, and traveling to many different parts of the country. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Glenna was a member of Sully Christian Reformed Church and through the years attended Ruth Circle and the Coffee Break Ministries.
Those left to cherish her memory are her family: Deborah Harper, Doris (George) Patch, and David (Laurie) Budding; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Van Engelenhoven and many nieces and nephews.
Glenna was preceded in death by her husband Joe; her parents; her brothers: Henry, Gilbert Van Engelenhoven, and Albert and Tena Mae Van Engelenhoven; her brothers-in-law: George and Jennie Kucera, John and Henrietta Wouda, Louis and Eva Anders, Frances and Vis Smith, Elmer and Nellie Klein, John and Gwen Budding, Floyd and Nola Smith, and Bertha and Paul Ludwick.
