Georgia R. Varga, 82

Georgia R. Varga of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving savior Jesus Christ on Mar. 13, 2025, at the age of 82.

Georgia, the daughter of Clarence and Sylvia Renaud, was born Dec. 24, 1942, in Sully, and graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School. She attended Bryan College in Dayton, TN, where she received her B.A. in elementary education. Years later, she received her master’s degree in elementary guidance counseling from Tennessee Tech University.

Georgia was a beloved teacher in Dayton, TN, having taught at Graysville Elementary, Frazier Elementary, and Dayton City School. She taught second grade and junior high and worked as an elementary guidance counselor.

Georgia was united in marriage with Bela D. Varga on Oct. 6, 1963, in Sully. They became the parents of two daughters, Susie and Beth, and lived most of their married life in Dayton, TN. They had a loving marriage based on mutual respect and a shared Christian faith. In their later years, Bela was her faithful caretaker as her health failed. They were married for 63 years. In November 2024, Georgia and Bela moved to independent living in Mt. Juliet to be closer to family.

Some of Georgia’s interests included reading and traveling. She and Bela traveled to many European countries including Germany, Hungary, France, Austria, Spain, The Netherlands, and England. She will be remembered for her kindness, patience, generosity, love of teaching, and love of her family.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband Bela Varga of Mt. Juliet, TN; and her daughters Susie (Ray) Tucker of Hermitage, TN, and Beth (Mark) McAdoo of Old Hickory, TN. Of her original family, she is survived by sister, Lilyan Eliason, and brothers, Doug Renaud, Greg Renaud, and Dean Renaud. Surviving grandchildren are Zoë Smith and Emma McAdoo. She also was loved by her many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Mar. 21 from noon to 2 p.m. at Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens off Shute Lane in Old Hickory, TN. A private graveside service for family will be held immediately after. Memorials may be given to moodyradio.org.
