Naomi DeHart, 88

Naomi DeHart, 88, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 20, 2019, at Nelson Manor in Newton. Funeral ser-vices were Saturday, Aug. 24, at Kellogg Christian Church for which memorials may be designated along with Kellogg Historical Museum or a charity of your choosing. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery, Kellogg.

Naomi Marie DeHart, the daughter of Glen Thomas and Anna Marie (Letch) Ferneau, was born May 28, 1931, in Marshalltown. She was a graduate of Grinnell Senior High School Class of 1949, and the Iowa State Teachers College, in Cedar Falls, Class of 1951. She went on to teach in Malcom and Newton.

Jan. 9, 1952, Naomi was united in marriage with Wayne "Chick" Anderson in Grinnell. Chick preceded her in death on July 9, 1992. She devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed helping out at the Kellogg Historical Museum, her garden, creative writing, singing, sewing, and reading. She was a member of Kellogg Christian Church, where she served in many capacities, as a Sunday School teacher, elder, and in the choir. Apr. 15, 1994, Naomi married Craig DeHart, and he preceded her in death in 2002.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; brother, Curtis Ferneau; and sisters: Glenda Beaver and Bev Bryan.

Those left to honor Naomi's memory include her daughter Kristy (Dan) Jensen of Waukee; her sons: Tom (Theresa) Anderson of Lynnville, Marty (Cindy) Anderson of Kellogg, Ben (Kay) DeHart of Overland Park, KS, and Joe (Becky) DeHart of Otley; her 10 grandchildren: Melia Failor, Rachel (Tom) Salz, Katie (Luke) Bostrom, Grant (Laken) Jensen, Mike (Juliana) DeHart, Tom DeHart, David DeHart, Paul DeHart, Reese Rosenquist, and Ryan Rosenquist; two great-grandchildren: Logan Failor and Jordan Failor; brother David (Rita) Ferneau of Malcom; sister Sharon Wassom of Bowling Green, KY; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good neighbors and friends.
