Jim Billingsley, 74

James Joseph Billingsley, 74, of Prairie City, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Military rites will be provided by the Iowa National Guard Honor Team. The family will greet friends following the service at a luncheon at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Mosaic Homes in Logan or Make-A-Wish Foundation. The son of James Edward and Betty Marcella (Watters) Billingsley, Jim was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Knoxville. He attended high school in Knoxville. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Sept. 15, 1962, he was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Jordan.

Jim worked at Armstrong for several years and then ran the P.C. Café in Prairie City until its closing. He finished out his career in sales prior to his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching Fox News.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Gloria; three daughters, Sheila (Brent) Vander Leest, Bobbi (Michael) Streeter, and Wanda (Kyle) Van Houweling; six grandchildren, Jamie Wyngarden, Tyler Vander Leest, Adam (Amy) Streeter, Seth (Jessica) Streeter, Courtney Van Houweling, and Koby Van Houweling; and five great- grandchildren, Blake and Brody Wyngarden, Rowen and Kentlee Streeter, and Ezra Streeter. Also surviving are two sisters, Sharon (Richard) Boner and Karen (Douglas) Vande Krol; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Jim in death were his parents and his grandparents.
