Harold E. Ehresman, 94

Harold Edwin Ehresman, 94, of Hiawatha, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at the Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Hope United Church of Christ in Hiawatha. Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein officiated. Private family inurnment was held at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery in Tipton.

Survivors include his three children: Susan Burdick of Cedar Rapids, Douglas (Linda) of Golden, CO, and Stephanie Hatfield of Newhall; eight grandchildren: Shane (Tashia) Ehresman, Andy (Anne) Ehresman, Rob Wells, Sarah (Carlos) Richardson, Ryan (Kristin) Kuhns, Dustin Hatfield, Scott (Kari) Ehresman, and Shandy (Jon) Seaston; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marian; an infant daughter; a brother, Donzel Ehresman; brother-in-law, Harold Lange; and sister-in-law, Alice Paulsen.

Harold was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Miller, NE, the son of Carl and Gertrude (Knight) Ehresman.

He married Marian Lange on June 8, 1947, in Clarence. Harold was self-employed as a farmer in Tipton and Monticello until 1967. He also was co-owner and operator of the Monticello Sale Barn. Harold then worked as a shoe repairman and proudly retired in 1994.

He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ and several local bridge clubs.

Harold was a hardworking and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was also a compassionate caregiver for his wife, Marian, for many years.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
