George F. Johnson, 62

George F. Johnson, 62, of rural Searsboro, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. As was his wish, his body has been cremated. Memorial services were held Friday, Feb. 9, at the Searsboro Community Church.

George Francis Johnson was born Mar. 25, 1955, to Delno and Nira Schneider Johnson in Denver, CO.  George attended Lynnville-Sully High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1972. He was a member of the inactive reserves for one year after being honorably discharged in 1975. George was married to Patty Malloy before marrying Shelli Hicks on Jan. 24, 1993, in Las Vegas. To this union their son, Skylar, was born. George began working for Sully Construction and also for Terry Stanek restoring cars after the service. George worked for Sully Construction for 41 years. He had a passion for working on and restoring old cars. He enjoyed going to car shows and going to Good Guys in Des Moines. Family was important to George, and Skylar was a big part of his life.

George was preceded in death by his father, Delno Johnson, and his brother-in-law, Michael Ahrenstorff.

George is survived by his mother, Nira Johnson Wilkinson of Mountain Home, AR; his son, Skylar Johnson of Searsboro; his brothers, Charles (Deb) Johnson of Sully and Michael (Jessann) Johnson of Lynnville; his sister, Charleen Ahrenstorff of Mountain Home, AR, and many other friends and relatives.
