Clazina Hoksbergen, 89

Clazina Gertrude Hoksbergen was born June 25, 1929, to Everett and Allie (De Kock) De Jong, at the family farm south of Sully. She left to join the Lord on Dec. 20, 2018, at Jefferson Place in Pella.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, at the Oakwood Cemetery; and memorial services will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, Jan. 12, at Faith Christian Reformed Church, Pella. Memorial donations may be given to the Peoria Christian School.

Clazina attended Chester Country School where she was the only person in her grade during all of her grade school years. She went on to graduate from Sully High School.

In 1947, she met Harold Hoksbergen, and he courted her for three years before their marriage on Nov. 2, 1950, in Sully. They began married life on a farm down the road from Harold’s parents’ farm. Clazina moved back to her parents’ farm while Harold was serving in the Korean War. After his return, they settled on a farm that Harold had grown up on near the Lynnville/Taintor area. They were blessed with five children: Ron, Charlene, Carroll, Cindy, and Donna. In 1970, they moved to Pella so their children could attend Pella Christian High School. Clazina worked at Jaarsma Bakery and cleaned offices at Central College.  Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, and making dolls and crafts. Harold and Clazina also enjoyed travelling and visiting their family and grandchildren wherever they were living.

Clazina and Harold were members of Peoria Christian Reformed Church where she was a member of Ladies’ Society and the Peoria Christian School Circle. When they moved to Pella, they became members of Faith Christian Reformed Church. Clazina has worked on the flower committee, as a church librarian, and at the sewing days.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Ron (Marlyn) Hoksbergen of Pella, the late Charlene Criger, Dan and Corene Criger of Norwalk, Carroll (Elizabeth) Hoksbergen of Lynnville, Cindy (Gary) Vandenberg of Pella, and Donna (Barry) Ferguson of Monroe; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  In addition, Clazina is survived by her sister, Wanda (Tom) Stangl of Pella, her brother Johnnie (Delia) De Jong of Sully; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Lois Klyn of Pella, Dorothy Rus of Pella, Loren Witzenburg of Pella,  Theresa and Don Bruxvoort of South Haven, MI, and Lois (Hoksbergen) Klyn of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents; her parents-in-law, Ray and Johanna Hoksbergen;  daughter Charlene Criger; sisters-in-law Alma Witzenburg, and Janice Hoksbergen; and brothers-in-law: Ralph Hoksbergen, Jake Rus, Warren De Prenger, and John Klyn.

Clazina will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
