The city of Sully was a hub of holiday excitement Saturday, Dec. 9, for Sully Community Christmas. A ceremonial tree lighting at the stage in Sully’s central park kicked off the festivities. Santa Claus, sponsored by the Sully Lions Club, listened to the wish lists of young children and gave them goodie bags inside the warmth of Great Western Bank.
Santa’s visit, which was sponsored by the Sully Lions Club, included goodie bags for each visitor.
Several area businesses opened their doors and treated nearly 200 guests to complimentary gifts, holiday goodies, and the chance to win great door prizes. The grand prize of $100 Sully Bucks was awarded to Michelle Van Zante of Sully.
Across town on the west edge of Sully, Jared and Stacey Nikkel, owners of Sully Locker and Market, hosted a successful grand reopening with a steady stream of visitors checking out their products and new location. The long-time Sully Locker once stood just off the Sully square until fire devastated the building in October 2016. Locals and out-of-town customers alike are thrilled the locker is back in business.
The youth groups of Sully First Reformed Church – Faithwalkers and IMPACT – drew a crowd at their annual freewill soup dinner and bake sale to conclude the fun and festive morning.
