Smileys celebrate 50th anniversary

Douglas and Eileen Smiley invite you to celebrate with them 50 years of marriage and ministry.

Prior to marriage, Eileen Smiley taught school at Poynette, WI, and Douglas began pastoring at Wymore Church in rural Oskaloosa, working with John De Boef.

After the Smileys were married on Apr. 2, 1966, they traveled to Alaska and served as missionary pastors among the Eskimos at Point Barrow, AK.

In 1969, they returned to Iowa to take the pastorate of the Christian Church in Barnes City. The Smileys currently pastor Calvary Bible Church in Oskaloosa. They have served the congregation for 28 years and also pastored at the Lynnville Friends Church for six years.

They are the parents of Stephen (Lisa) Smiley and Elizabeth (Dan) Taylor. They have three grandchildren.

The couple founded Horizon Broadcasting and American Radio Missions, having been involved in Christian broadcasting for 42 years.

Along with her ministry of music at the church, Eileen teaches piano students in Pella. Over the years, Rev. Smiley has traveled extensively in missions.

The anniversary celebration will take place on Saturday, Apr. 2, at Calvary Bible Church, 1411 South 11th St. in Oskaloosa, from 2-4 p.m.

Please join them to renew friendship and share memories.
