Bryce Gause Memorial: Community remembers, honors late leader

The Lynnville-Sully Community Education Foundation (LSCEF) received its first memorial gift in honor of one of the founding members of the foundation. Bryce Gause, of Lynnville, passed away Sept. 20, 2018, and had designated his memorials could be made to the LSCEF. Many generous personal donations and two large business donations make the Bryce Gause Memorial to be the first name listed on the LSCEF Donor Wall under the Legacy Level, contributions of $25,000 and above. This is very fitting as Gause has left a legacy not only for education, but also for people personally.

Dale “Rail” Brand, a donor of the Bryce Gause Memorial, commented, “It is an honor for Co-Line and the Brand family to join with other donors to make the legacy of Bryce’s willingness to help others continue for years to come through the LSCEF. Bryce believed in Co-Line when there was nothing but hard work and hope. I will forever be grateful as Bryce helped shape the very foundation of the Co-Line organization, which may not even exist today, if not for his inspiration and commitment many years ago. Bryce

always stayed one step ahead of me and the financial needs of Co-Line. Bryce was my accountability partner, my mentor, and most of all, my friend.”

1st State Bank has designated their donation be used for a Bryce Gause Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be given to a graduating senior at L-S for the next 10 years to help them pursue education beyond high school – fitting as it ties Gause’s passion for education and helping others together.

“Bryce was instrumental in starting the Lynnville-Sully Community Education Foundation. Through this scholarship for a graduating L-S senior, 1st State Bank is able to continue Bryce’s legacy, both as the former president and CEO of 1st State Bank and an original board member of the LSCEF,” said Steve Russell, president of 1st State Bank.
